As ambassadors of Christ, we can't afford to be only half charged; we need to plug into our intimate connection with God with intensity and intent.
I have this habit of entering my quiet time with my mind on other things. Staying fully present in reflection and prayer with God is hard when you have a to-do list running through your head.
Have you ever had to battle with every distraction imaginable during your quiet time with God?
The days I feel the most overwhelmed are the days I wasn’t fully present in my quiet time.
When we plug in our phones incorrectly or incompletely, they charge at a slower rate (and sometimes they don't charge at all). This is how I sometimes feel after my quiet time, especially when I start thinking about all the things I need to get done and try to hurry my time with God—just to check it off my list.
As ambassadors of Christ, we can't afford to be only half charged; we need to plug into our intimate connection with God with intensity and intent.
We must take time to charge our batteries during our time with Christ to be ready to serve and love others.
It's not about doing something to feel better about ourselves; it's about fulfilling the law of Christ, which in turn leaves us fully charged.
This is best illustrated in John 15, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me, you can do nothing.” (John 15:5, NIV)
I don’t know about you, but when I’ve done things in my own strength and tried to force things in my own timing— I feel the disconnection.
No fruit — just exhaustion, hustling, striving, and overwhelm.
Therefore, let us remain in him by having fully charged quiet times so that we will have the energy needed to advance the Kingdom of God.
God desires a deep and lasting relationship with us—let's plug back into his power, truth, and love.
