Surrender Your Schedule to the Lord

If we exchange our rushing for rest and busyness for stillness, life will go on, and the pressing tasks that we must get done will be okay.

“Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”-I Peter 5:7 NIV

Tick-Tock. Tick-Tock. Our lives have become relentless races to the next appointment, meeting, sports game, ministry event, or social outing. Our schedules are continually filled to the brim and can’t handle one more thing. We are achieving our God-given purpose but are too exhausted to fully enjoy the fruits of our labor. Sound familiar? God wants us to surrender everything to Him including our schedules.

If we exchange our rushing for rest and busyness for stillness, life will go on, and the pressing tasks that we must get done will be okay. God is sovereign and our needs will be met. When we fully surrender our schedules to the Lord, it frees us to:

1. Draw Closer and Listen to the Father More

We often have trouble listening to God and spending more time with Him because our daily schedules keep us so busy that we don’t take the time to pause, breathe, and invite God’s presence into every aspect of our lives. Many battles and challenges that we face are because we continually try to handle things within our own strength and are in survival mode. Today, I invite you to surrender your schedule to the Lord so that you can draw closer to Him.

2. Spend Quality Time with Family and Friends

Spending quality time with family, friends, and those who matter most is another wonderful benefit of fully surrendering our schedules to God. When I’m overcommitted, I often feel resentful for saying “yes” to one more thing because I really want to spend more quality time with my family. While many of the things that God calls us to do are great, it’s important for us to prioritize making time for building and maintaining relationships with those who are important to us.

As women, we carry many unnecessary and self-induced burdens and worries that God didn’t desire for us to carry. God loves us so much that He doesn’t want us to bear life’s burdens alone. Today, I invite you to confidently surrender your schedule to the Lord and make more room for God’s presence to move.

Kristen, your devotional was a GREAT reminder of the importance of rest and getting rid of busyness in our lives. Rest has been one of the things that God has repeatedly spoken to me about throughout my life.

Keep up the good work, and keep shining, Sis!
